Breathe move write.
Yoga and Creative Writing Workshop.
Date: 1st June 2024
Location: Lumi Power Yoga
121 King St, London, W6 9JG
Join poet Demi Anter and yoga teacher Rosie Wadham as we create a welcoming space to breathe, move and write our way toward expressive freedom.
Our workshop on June 1st is at the beautiful Lumi Power Yoga studio in Hammersmith. It will combine yoga and creative writing exercises, meditation and free movement to strengthen the mind-body connection and unlock creative energy.
Our goal is always to create a supportive, kind environment where people of all levels and backgrounds can meet and try new approaches to movement and writing.
No prior experience in either writing or yoga is necessary, just an interest and openness to exploring together! We are strong believers that anybody can access creativity and find joy in movement, with the help of practical exercises and supportive guides.
"I found the energy of the room very nurturing and a safe space to open my heart to. The gentle yoga flow helped to get the creative juices going, to release tension and find ease." — Breathe Move Write Participant
What to expect:
Though each of our seasonal sessions is slightly different and we try to respond to the energy of the class, we typically begin with an introduction and short guided meditation.
There are several blocks of movement throughout the three-hour workshop, based on Rosie's Power Vinyasa yoga practice. We always start gently but with the opportunity to push yourself more physically as you feel ready.
Demi leads both partnered and individual creative writing exercises using a variety of prompts. This session will focus on tuning into the self, reflecting on the relationship between the mental and the physical in an attempt to explore the connection between the two.
We take breaks for discussion, feedback and sharing within the group, as well as a break for tea and snacks, which will be provided.
Please note: If you have any access needs, please contact either of us before the workshop. We aim to make our workshops accessible to as many people as possible and will do our best to accommodate all needs. We typically sit on the floor on mats and blankets during our writing, but chairs are also available. WC and locker facilities are also available on-site.
"Rosie and Demi are so sweet and created such a lovely space for both yoga and writing. The group had a great vibe and it was a gorgeous way to spend a Saturday morning." — Breathe Move Write Participant
